BIOQuébec and Canada's Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D) have joined forces in order to improve networking opportunities and develop partnerships that will lead to the discovery of the next generation of life-saving therapies.

The company said that the new joint-membership initiative is for emerging biopharmaceutical companies and associated stakeholders in Québec.

BIOQuébec general manager Mario Lebrun said emerging biotech companies and clinical/contract research organizations (CROs) play an important role in the R&D ecosystem.

"They share a common interest with major biopharmaceutical companies in developing innovative medicines," Lebrun said.

"We believe that this initiative will provide them with increased networking opportunities and contribute to the development of new partnerships, thereby fostering their development."

The joint initiative offers better opportunity for BIOQuébec members to secure membership within Rx&D as a Biopharmaceutical or an Associate member.

The initiative will provide access to a number to key benefits such as representation on the Rx&D board of directors through two elected positions; access to the environmental pulse of the innovative industry; access to industry leaders with global experience; aAccess to a full range of expertise in government relations, intellectual property, policy development, scientific and regulatory affairs, public affairs, communications, and stakeholder relations.

The joint initiative will also provide access to timely information on important, ever-changing issues, developments, legislations and regulations within the biopharmaceutical marketplace through networking forums.

Rx&D president Russell Williams said, "Expanding upon the relationship between BIOQuébec and Rx&D is possible because of our shared commitment to Quebec and of the progress the innovative biopharmaceutical industry continues to make for the benefit of Quebecers and Canadians."
